We warmly invite supporters, professionals, partners, and stroke affected people and their carers to Bristol After Stroke's Wellbeing Day 2018 on Friday 5th October 2018 10am – 2.30pm. Thanks again to the St Monica Trust for kindly hosting the event in the Oatley Hall at Cote Lane, Westbury-in-Trym.
Our annual Wellbeing Day is an opportunity to find out more about key issues affecting people after stroke. We have lined up an exciting agenda that we hope you will find interesting and informative.
This year we focus on:
- Diabetes and Stroke – The Bristol Diabetes and Nutrition Service is talking about the links between Diabetes and Stroke, how to manage diabetes if you’ve had a stroke and how services such as theirs can help.
- Health Integration Team for Stroke – Dr Philip Clatworthy, Consultant Stroke Neurologist, North Bristol NHS Trust and Director of the HIT, talks about the work and priorities that include improvements in stroke prevention, improvements in immediate stroke treatment, and support after stroke.
- Vision and Stroke – 60% of people have vision problems after their stroke: RNIB’s local vision rehab team talk about what to do if your visual problems persist, how their service can help, and how equipment and technology can assist you.
- Relationships and Stroke – The Harbour (a local charity that supports that have life limiting illness people with counselling) talks about a new joint piece of work with Bristol After Stroke supporting couples to cope with the life changes that stroke can bring.
The Wellbeing Day is our yearly opportunity to keep you up to date on the work of Bristol After Stroke and our plans for the future. You will hear from us and our service users about the impact of our work.
There will also be a wide range of useful information stands available for you to browse at different times during the day.
There are some limited community transport options available if required. We hope you can join us - to book a place contact us.
