We were delighted to welcome special guests, volunteers and service users to help celebrate 35 years of support people after stroke. We heard about the incredible work of our dedicated staff and volunteers in all the activities and services we provide, and the impact this has had on people affected by stroke.
We were joined by Cllr Asher Craig of Bristol City Council alongside funders and fundraisers, putting the case for funding Bristol After Stroke into the future. Bristol After Stroke has now set its sights on raising an additional £100,000 in 2018 – enough to make a massive difference to the lives of a potential 350 more local people. That means the charity is bidding to raise £300,000 this year.
“We know the work that we do makes a massive difference to people’s lives,” says Rebecca Sheehy, the charity’s Chief Executive. “We’re there when a person comes out of hospital to advise, encourage and support them as they fight their way back towards living a fulfilling life. “And because we rely on so many volunteers – many of whom have themselves survived a stroke – every pound we raise goes a very long way.
