For every person who has a stroke, there is usually at least one family carer whose life can also be upturned. Supporting a loved one who has had a stroke can be an emotional, demanding experience… often with no certainty as to how things will improve into the future.
Here at Bristol After Stroke, we never forget that carers’ needs really matter too, and we’re here to play our part in helping them to understand and deal with the changes, and the impact on their lives and their relationships.
Our Carer Support Sessions have been designed specifically to give you the time and space to talk to expert professionals who will really appreciate what you are going through… and be able to provide practical advice and guidance.
Regular monthly sessions are held both in-person and online and hosted by a stroke healthcare worker and a key worker. An informal session for you to speak confidentially can also be arranged. At our group sessions, you can meet other carers and learn from their lived experiences, develop selfcare skills and talk to stroke healthcare professionals and psychologists to understand more about the impact of stroke, such as anxiety, depression and fatigue…
You can be as involved as you like: come along and get stuck in, or just sit back and listen!
