BAS provides a range of support to people who have had a stroke, as well as their carers.

Our small counselling service, based on person-centred values, forms part of this wider support.

We are looking for either:
a) a qualified counsellor wanting to expand their experience or gain hours towards accreditation, or
b) a counselling student in training, needing practice hours towards qualifying.
In return for a minimum 12-month commitment, we offer a formal induction and regular supervision with our Lead Counsellor (who has worked with this client group for over 8 years).

We cover an ethnically diverse population and welcome applications from people of varied backgrounds.

As a counselling volunteer with us you will be helping people regain confidence and build a new life after stroke.  You could make a real difference to their lives. So if you think you would be a good fit for our requirements, do please get in touch.

Basic Requirements
•    12-month commitment to BAS – extensions by mutual agreement
•    sufficient time to carry a caseload of 3 clients and attend supervision
•    have / be working towards diploma qualification (or more) in counselling
•    professional membership of BACP, NCS, UKCP or equivalent
•    practising a person-centred, humanistic or integrative approach
