Whether you’re new to Bristol After Stroke, a current service user… or perhaps someone who has attended one of our groups or activities in the past… why not get on board with one of the many events, classes and workshops that we have planned over the coming months?

We are always delighted to see old faces as well as new ones, especially if you feel that your recovery isn’t progressing quite as quickly as you would like.

So what’s on the calendar for the next few months?

The hugely popular ACT course has a few last spaces remaining – this is a four-week course, with an optional fifth week, for anyone having any problems adjusting emotionally and psychologically to their stroke.  It is also suitable for carers or family members.  This starts on the 7th November and will be online via Zoom.

Our Stroke Cafés are brilliant places to meet up with other stroke-affected people, to chat, share experiences and help others on their recovery journeys. The Bristol café is held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at Oatley Hall, St Monica Trust, Cote Lane, Bristol, BS9 3UN, from 2.00 - 3.30pm.

The South Gloucestershire café is held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month at Badminton Road Methodist Church, Badminton Road, Downend, Bristol, BS16 6NU, with the first café running from 11am - 1pm and the second café running from 11am - 12.30pm.

Our Stroke HIT group also starts meeting again this November. These are monthly online information sessions which we run with our partners at Stroke HIT (Health Integration Team), and which cover a wide range of topics that our clients have told us they would find useful. They are held on Zoom on the last Thursday of the month.

Our next Communication Cafés both have spaces available. These are designed to provide an opportunity to meet others with aphasia, to exchange advice and share experiences, and to connect.

The Zion, Bedminster group meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 10.00 to 11.30, while the one at The Nest, Page Park, is held between 1.00pm and 3.30pm on the 4th Wednesday of each month.

Our group for stroke carers meets online on the 1st Wednesday of each month between 1.00 and 2.30 each afternoon and is an excellent place to meet and chat with other people going through your lived experiences.

Our Lyde Green Group meets on Wednesdays between 1.00 and 3pm, and, again, some spaces are available.

And, finally, a reminder that Walking Netball and Walking Football have also been added to our programme! People of all abilities take part and find them incredibly beneficial to their physical and mental wellbeing.

To book YOUR space at one or more of these groups, or simply to find out more about them, just speak or leave a message for us on 0117 9647657, or email [email protected]
