The sun shone, drying up the floods and most of the mud that had covered the path the day before, the Lord Mayor saw us off in style, and over 130 walkers joined us for what proved to be an uplifting and emotional day.

Those taking part had a choice of official routes: a one miler around Fishponds Park, or a six mile hike along the side of the River Frome, but everyone walked to reach their own personal target... from a gallant few steps upwards.

Dogs and children, as well as wheelchair users shared in the fun. The wonderful people at The Nissan Hut restored everyone's energy levels with copious supplies of cakes, coffee and tea after the event, and no one went away without a medal.

It's hard to put into words just what an inspiring day it was, and we were all left in awe at the achievements of those stroke-affected walkers who set themselves personal challenges... and smashed them.

And, while donations are still coming in, we have already sailed past the £15,000 mark - way ahead of last year's total. That money will make a huge difference to our work over the coming year, allowing us to put on more events, groups and activities.

Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible... from the volunteers and trustees manning the course, taking photographs, making cakes and a dozen other essential tasks through to our incredible sponsored walkers, and everyone who took part and made this such a special day.

Watch out for next year's date to put in your diary!
